Structural design of single-layer lattice shell of Qingdao Wanda Oriental Cinema Exhibition Center


The modeling of Qingdao Wanda Oriental Cinema Exhibition Center is irregular nautilus. In order to meet the requirements of space and vision, the main steel structure adopts large-span single-layer lattice shell.
The steel structure horizontal span at the main entrance of the project is about 40m, the height is about 23m, and the maximum cantilever is about 15.4m. Three inverted triangular lattice steel trusses were installed at the main entrance to effectively reduce the cantilever span. 2-story plane truss is arranged between three steel trusses to improve its stability and be used to support the glass curtain wall of the main entrance. The steel components are made of Q345B .
Structural features and difficulties:
1.Steel roof shape is nautilus, all the pipes are spatial distortion components, and the local coordinate axis of each pipes is different, so it is very difficult for the roof meshing and modeling, the workload is very large.
2.The project is located at the seaside and wind load is large. There is no accurate shape coefficient and wind vibration coefficient in the load code for design reference. The roof has many folds, and the screw center is concave, very easy to snow; ceiling load is large due to large internal space.
3.This project belongs to irregular large-span space frame structure. The span between the column feet of the space frame has exceeded related requirements  "the span of the single-layer hyperbolic paraboloid space frame should not be more than 60m". Moreover, the structure has both the bearing characteristics of the shell structure and the transmission characteristics of the frame structure, and the calculation of internal force and stability is complex.
